West Virginia ranked No. 22 in AP poll after beating Baylor

West Virginia is moving up in the Associated Press Top 25 after a close win against Baylor.

The Mountaineers (5-2, 3-1 Big 12) moved up to No. 22 in this week’s rankings. They also came in at No. 22 in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll.

West Virginia rose in the poll after escaping Waco, Texas with a 38-36 win on Saturday. After taking a 38-13 lead late in the third quarter, the Mountaineers surrendered 23 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

They had to get a stop on a 2-point conversion with 17 seconds remaining and then recover an onside kick to preserve the victory. Despite the scare, West Virginia is still in the hunt for a Big 12 Championship Game berth and a New Year’s Six bowl.

This Saturday, the Mountaineers will host Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. CT on ABC.
