West Virginia RB Justin Crawford will skip Heart of Dallas Bowl, prepare for NFL Draft

West Virginia football will be without its starting running back against Utah in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl on Dec. 26.

Mountaineers running back Justin Crawford announced on Thursday that he will skip the bowl game to prepare for the NFL Draft, according to 247Sports’ Chris Anderson.

Crawford, a senior from Columbus, Ga., rushed for 1,061 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2017 in addition to 38 receiving yards. He previously rushed for 1,184 yards and 4 touchdowns as a junior in 2016, in addition to 68 receiving yards with a touchdown.

With Crawford not making the trip to Dallas, the Mountaineers could be without both their starting running back and quarterback for the matchup with the Utes. West Virginia quarterback Will Grier is uncertain if he will play after sustaining a regular-season ending hand injury vs. Texas on Nov. 18.

West Virginia finished the regular season 7-5 after dropping its final two games on the calendar against Texas and Oklahoma.
