At the end of the first quarter of every game played at Kinnick Stadium this season, fans have taken the time to wave at the children watching from the top floor of the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. With Minnesota’s upcoming game at Iowa on Saturday, coach P.J. Fleck is excited to take part in college football’s newest tradition.
On Tuesday afternoon, Fleck said that the waving towards the hospital has become his “favorite tradition in college football.”

The newly built hospital stands next door to Kinnick Stadium. The top floor of the hospital features the Press Box Cafe, which gives the children and their families a great view of the field from one of the tallest vantage points in Iowa City.
While the Gophers and Hawkeyes will match up at 6:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, both teams will take a moment to soak it in while every fan in attendance waves at the hospital.
