WATCH: West Virginia DB Corey Winfield punches Baylor player in the head, causes fumble

West Virginia-Baylor

West Virginia escaped Waco, Texas with a 38-36 win against Baylor on the scoreboard and a boxing punch on the scorecard.

In what appeared to be an attempt to knock the ball out of the hands of a Bears player, Mountaineers defensive back Corey Winfield landed a stiff right jab to the head of the Baylor player instead. But he achieved his desired result, as the ball was dislodged and he was not ejected from the game.

Barstool Sports tweeted out the video of the play on Saturday night, with the fitting caption “Give me your lunch money.”

As funny as that play may be, it also was a very dangerous move. Not only for the defenseless Baylor player on the receiving end of the blow, but also for Winfield who could have easily injured his hand on the play. Helmets aren’t soft, ya know.
