Texas Tech men’s basketball’s ticket to Boston has
been punched for the Sweet 16.
It’s the furthest the Red Raiders have gone in the NCAA Tournament since 2005. They now have the opportunity to add
another memorable chapter to what has been a magical season under second-year coach Chris Beard.
And how is the team celebrating and preparing for its upcoming trip to New England? By jamming out in the locker room to
a tune that is synonymous with Boston sports — and well, beyond, too.
You guessed it. After formally advancing in the tournament bracket, the Red Raiders wasted no time in celebrating to the
tune of ‘Sweet Caroline.’
Of course, the Neil Diamond song that is a staple for Red Sox baseball games at Fenway Park has made its way to other places
over the years for sporting events. That includes Iowa State and Penn State, for starters.
Regardless, it’s one heck of a St. Patrick’s Day for Texas Tech men’s basketball. It’s now just
a matter of time before Whataburger works its way into the equation — likely via Beard.
