Coach Shaka Smart may welcome Texas football signee Malcolm Epps for a basketball tryout with the Longhorns once the high school senior arrives in Austin later this year.
Epps, who signed with Texas in December and is a dual-sport athlete at Dekaney High School in Houston, Texas, drained a three-point shot at the buzzer on Monday night to give the Wildcats a thrilling win on the hardwood. Epps had 28 points in the triumph.

Epps was recruited by Tom Herman and the Longhorns as a 4-star prospect and the No. 10 tight end in the 2018 recruiting class, per the 247Sports composites. At 6-foot-5, his height translates well to the basketball court.
Texas’ 2018 signing class came in atop the Big 12 and was ranked No. 3 nationally, per the 247Sports composite rankings. And with Epps’ clutch play on Monday, there appears to be plenty of versatile athletic talent headed the Longhorns way in time for the 2018 season on the gridiron.
