WATCH: Penn fans chant ‘over-seeded’ during game against Kansas

No. 16-seed Penn’s fans were feeling a little rambunctious on Thursday.

No. 1-seed Kansas and Penn met in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. During the Round of 64 contest, Kansas senior Devonte’ Graham went to the free-throw line to put his team up by double digits late in the game.

The scoreboard didn’t stop the Quakers’ supports from chanting “over-seeded” at the Big 12 Player of the Year and the Jayhawks, who were the top seed in the Midwest region.

It’s a bit of a bold strategy to mock a team for its seeding when trailing by a good margin. It might be worth noting it’s the Ivy League Tournament champion’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007.

Going after the kings of the Big 12, led by a Naismith Award finalist, just seems a bit overly confident.

Kansas fans invaded INTRUST Bank Arena, which is not a far dive from Lawrence, Kan., on Thursday. Penn made its presence known, however, even if its team didn’t deliver a favorable result.

Kansas won 76-60 and advanced to the Round of 32. The Jayhawks will get the winner of Seton Hall and North Carolina State.
