With North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams in attendance Tuesday night, Class of 2019 forward Matthew Hurt certainly made a good impression.
Hurt, playing for John Marshall Senior High in Rochester, Minnesota, scored 48 points — and he didn’t even play the fourth quarter.
Hurt is ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2019 class by 247sports. According to Ross Martin of InsideCarolina, Hurt has been a Tar Heel target for a while before the 48-point outburst. Assistant coach Hubert Davis was with Williams to watch Tuesday’s game.
North Carolina will likely face stiff competition to land the 6-foot-9 Hurt. Kentucky head coach John Calipari was also in attendance to watch Hurt play Tuesday night. Currently, Hurt has scholarship offers from 17 schools, including Duke, Kansas, Louisville, Minnesota and Arizona in addition to North Carolina and Kentucky.
Check out some of the highlights from Hurt’s performance below:
At @JMRocketsBBB, @KentuckyMBB head coach John Calipari and @UNC_Basketball HC Roy Williams were in #RochMn to watch Matthew Hurt play…I'm no expert, but IMO, Hurt did not disappoint both head coaches tonight… pic.twitter.com/oWGTJxopM7
