Finally, he just got fed up with the questions, but he picked the wrong reporter to deny. Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald-Leader wanted his voice heard and wasn’t going to stop until it bellowed loud and clear.
“Wait a minute, wait a minute. This is media day, not coach day.”
It only gets better from there as Calipari looks somewhat befuzzled that the reporter bit back at him.
“I am entitled to ask a question,” Tipton continued.
He then asked a question prompting Calipari to deny any backroom dealing with Nike, since Kentucky is a Nike school and Nike was named in the FBI investigation.
Jerry Tipton just checked John Calipari.

“You’re acting like you know something that I don’t know. ..We don’t even know if what you’re saying is true,” Calipari snipped. “I have no comment. I haven’t been contacted. We haven’t been contacted [by the FBI].”
Calipari was clearly agitated and snipped back by getting the last word in.
“How about a basketball question since it isn’t my day.”
