WATCH: Bowling Green football players involved in ugly spring break beach brawl

Spring break is a fun time for football players, and an equally stressful one for football coaches.

There’s always concern that sending a bunch of college-aged athletes off into tropical destinations without supervision may land some players in some unwanted situations. Count Bowling Green coach Mike Jinks as one of those coaches after an incident that recently happened on a beach in Miami.

A video has surfaced of multiple Bowling Green football players involved in a fight during spring break on the beach in South Florida. Here’s a look at the footage, which was first posted to Instagram by user @dreadhead_wildboy and later shared on Twitter by Toledo sports anchor Jordan Strack:

Strack indicated that Jinks was aware of the situation and planned to handle things internally since there were no charges filed at the time of the confrontation.

“I’m very disappointed and we’re investigating,” Jinks told Strack on Tuesday evening.

Later that evening, Bowling Green issued a statement on the situation, which may indicate additional discipline for players beyond whatever the Falcons coaching staff has in store for them.

“Bowling Green State University is aware of a spring break incident involving members of our football program. The University is investigating. We hold all of our students to high standards on or off campus. Any BGSU student found to have violated the student code of conduct will be held accountable. The student athletes may also face discipline from the football program.”

The report and statement do not identify the Falcons players involved by name, but we’ll certainly know more if suspensions are handed out. Bowling Green, which played against Tennessee in 2015, does not have a SEC team on its 2018 schedule.

This news story may remind you of the time that the SEC was hit by a bout of spring break violence. Former Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott was one of three former Bulldogs players involved in a spring break altercation back in March 2015.
