WATCH: Alabama band plays Rammer Jammer after Crimson Tide beat Virginia Tech in 2018 NCAA Tournament

The Alabama band got a chance to celebrate on Thursday night, after the Crimson Tide took down Virginia Tech in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.  And they did so very appropriately, by playing Rammer Jammer, just like football.

The Crimson Tide held own to beat Virginia Tech 86-83 behind strong performances from Collin Sexton and John Petty.

Alabama’s next task will be much tougher as the Crimson Tide will take on No. 1 seed Villanova. But it should be a really fun matchup between Sexton and Villanova’ Jalen Brunson. Sexton may end up being the No. 1 guard taken in the 2018 NBA Draft, while Brunson is a favorite to win the Player of the Year award.

A game time has not been announced yet for Alabama’s next game but this was Alabama’s first NCAA Tournament win under Avery Johnson and the school’s first since 2006. So tonight is a night to celebrate for the Alabama basketball program. And while we’re still a long way, away from it, we can’t yet rule out the possibility of Alabama winning national titles in both football and basketball.
