Washington State hires assistant coach Steve Spurrier Jr.

Steve Spurrier Jr. is leaving Bowling Green for Pullman.

According to WBKO in Bowling Green and later reported by WKU Redzone Radio, Spurrier has accept a job on Mike Leach’s staff as Washington State’s quarterbacks coach.

Spurrier is the son of college football Hall of Fame coach Steve Spurrier. The younger Spurrier was an assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach at Western Kentucky last season. Prior to Western Kentucky, he was as an off-field staffer at Oklahoma and he spent 11 seasons on his father’s staff at South Carolina.

The long-time assistant is now going to coach in the Pac-12 at Washington State.
