Washington State-Colorado football: TV channel, time, live stream, odds, picks (Oct. 21, 2017)

Washington State and Colorado meet in a Pac-12 inter-division class on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Find game time, TV channel and how to watch online information below.

The 15th-ranked Cougars (6-1, 3-1) are coming off a 37-3 loss at California last week, a game in which they turned the ball over seven times and allowed nine sacks. It was WSU’s worst loss since losing 45-10 to Washington in the 2015 Apple Cup.

WSU coach Mike Leach ripped his team’s effort in that game, calling his players “a bunch of pathetic frontrunners.” He said the Cougars would bounce back, though they’ll be doing so without their top receiver as junior Tavares Martin Jr. has reportedly been suspended for the game for a violation of team rules.

Washington State-Colorado football picks, odds

Washington State was a heavy favorite on the road last week at California but ended up getting blown out. Don’t expect a similar result with the Cougars back at Martin Stadium, where they won the first five games of the season including against then-unbeaten USC and with a massive comeback to beat Boise State.

WSU is favored by 10.5 points, per OddsShark.com, which is the second-lowest spread for the Cougars as a home favorite in 2017. For the year they are 4-3 against the spread.

Washington State-Colorado preview

Even with last week’s loss at California, Washington State’s 6-1 record is its best since 2003 when it began 7-1. This is the Cougars’ second-to-last home game of the season, the other coming Nov. 4 against Stanford.

The Cal loss was an anomaly compared to the rest of the year’s results in so many ways. Quarterback Luke Falk was intercepted five times (yet still went 28-of-43 for 286 yards) after getting picked off just twice in the previous six games and 262 pass attempts. Falk was also sacked nine times, the most sacks WSU has yielded in a game since giving up 10 to Stanford in October 2012.

Falk enters this game needing 422 yards to become the Pac-12’s career passing leader, and his 13,179 yards rank 14 th in FBS history. He needs 306 to pass Phillip Rivers for 10 th all-time.

WSU’s receiving corps features seven players with at least 20 receptions, including running backs James Williams (team-high 46 catches) and Jamal Morrow. But that unit will be missing its leading receiver in junior Tavares Martin Jr., suspended for a team rules violation, meaning others will have to replace the production that has led to 37 catches, 502 yards and seven touchdowns.

Colorado’s main weapon is senior running back Phillip Lindsay, who has run for 995 yards and 10 TDs. WSU is 35 th in FBS in run defense, allowing 125.9 yards per game, and has allowed three players to reach 100 yards on the ground this season.
