Virginia Tech receives verbal commit for PG Jonathan Kabongo

Virginia Tech basketball received a huge surprise to their 2018 recruiting class by getting a verbal commitment from point guard Jonathan Kabongo on Sunday.

The highly-touted recruit made the announcement on his Twitter account:

Kabongo will play this high school season with Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut after previously playing for West Virginia’s Huntington Prep. The injury the Toronto native was mentioning in his announcement was a back ailment that plagued him all of last season. Kabongo had scholarship offers from Indiana, Missouri and Washington State before verbally committing to the Hokies.
