Virginia Tech has released its injury report for the team’s Week 8 game against North Carolina.
The good news for Hokie fans is that star receiver Cam Phillips does not show up on the injury report. Phillips exited the team’s Oct. 7 game against Boston College in the first half with a foot injury.
Fellow receiver and big-play threat Steven Peoples is also not listed on the injury report. Peoples hasn’t played since the team’s Week 4 game against Old Dominion due to a foot injury but figures to be set to play against the Tar Heels.
The bad news for the Hokies is that two other offensive weapons are listed as “doubtful” to participate.
Wide receiver C.J. Carroll, who has 10 catches for 124 yards and a touchdown on the year, has not yet recovered from a foot injury that sidelined him against Boston College. Likewise, the Hokies’ second-leading rusher, running back DeShawn McClease, is also expected to miss the game due to a bout with illness.
McClease is second among Virginia Tech running backs with 38 carries and 159 yards on the season. He has also scored two touchdowns.
