Virginia Tech utterly embarrassed North Carolina in Week 8, scoring the first 59 points of the game and beating the Tar Heels, 59-7. That is the most lopsided score in the history of the rivalry.
If it were up to Hokies wide receiver Cam Phillips, he probably would have preferred scoring even more points or holding North Carolina to a shutout. After the big victory, Phillips implied that he and and his coach, Justin Fuente, have no love for the Tar Heels.
“I mean for me, I want to lay it on everybody, if that’s what you want to call it,” Phillips said Saturday night. “Every player, every coach has a certain team that like gets under their skin, like that they really want to beat more than anybody else. I know for Coach (Fuente), this is probably that team. I say this is a close second for me.”

Since Fuente joined the Hokies, Virginia Tech has outscored North Carolina, 93-10, in two games. Overall, the Hokies have won 11 of the last 14 meetings with the Tar Heels.
