For the second straight week, the Arizona State Sun Devils defense stepped up, allowing only 10 points to Utah in a 30-10 victory. Utah QB Tyler Huntley struggled mightily, throwing for only 155 yards with no TDs and four interceptions. The loss drops the Utes to 4-3 (1-3 in Pac-12 on the season) and is their third-straight defeat.

Utah-Arizona State football picks, odds
Line: Utah (-10)
Arizona State just injected chaos into the college football landscape with its upset of Washington. Utah is coming off one of the most chaotic endings to a game the Pac-12 has seen in 2017. Is it far-fetched to think chaos will be a theme as the two teams meet up?
At 2-1 in Pac-12 play, the Sun Devils very quietly control their own destiny to a division title and berth into the conference championship. If ASU upends the Utes, it’ll set the stage for another potential upset as Arizona State returns home to face USC.
As for Utah, they’re riding a two-game skid despite being in a position to win at USC just a week earlier. The Utes are desperate to salvage a season that had a ceiling in the clouds less than a month ago.
Utah-Arizona State keys to the game for the Utes
Keep the quarterback safe
Arizona State wreaked havoc in the Washington backfield last week, tallying three sacks by halftime and forcing the Huskies to veer from its identity on offense. Utah’s ability to protect the quarterback — whether it’s Tyler Huntley or Troy Williams — will be critical for Utah.
The Utes’ offense was able to click under Williams last week, and the playbook will only open up if Huntley returns.
Continue to take chances
Utah made the right decision to go for two points and for the win against USC last week. It was an identity-defining decision — it just didn’t work.
The Utes showed bravado in LA against USC, though. They need to keep that same swagger against a Sun Devils team that is itching to rewrite the narrative of its season. Utah is an opportunistic squad that forced Sam Darnold into three turnovers a week ago. The Utes pounce on any inch opponents give them.
Pressuring Arizona State to make mistakes can swing momentum early and often.
