USC center Cole Smith retires from football

Cole Smith has decided to walk away from football.

The USC center is retiring from football due to arthritis in his knees, per Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News.

Smith sparingly played in his time with the Trojans. Last season he played behind center Nico Falah. Smith was part of USC’s 2015 recruiting class. He played high school football at Mission Viejo. He is listed as 6-foot-4, 280 pounds.

Smith would’ve been classified as a redshirt junior this coming season. His father, Doug, is a former former lineman with the Rams.
