There were countless players whose efforts this season enabled USC to win its first Pac-12 title since 2008, and in nearly every case those contributors were doing so on full scholarship with some notable exceptions. But no longer.

Freshman kicker Chase McGrath and junior punter Reid Budrovich were stellar in 2017 as walk-ons. McGrath was 12-of-16 on field goals, including the game-winning 43-yarder in double overtime to beat Texas, while making 57-of-58 extra points. Budrovich, who did not see action in his first three years at USC, averaged 42.5 yards on 49 punts, the school’s best punting average since 2012.

The duo shared kickoff duties, McGrath averaging 61.8 yards (with 18 touchbacks) and Budrovich averaging 63.9 yards (with 8 touchbacks).
