UCLA ranked eighth ‘most comfortable’ QB situation in Pac-12

A report from Jon Wilner of The Mercury News ranks the UCLA Bruins as the 10th “most comfortable” quarterback situation in the Pac-12.

From The Mercury News:

So many converging pieces: Carta-Samuels, arriving from Washington, where he was well-coached as a career backup; Chip Kelly, taking charge with his playbook and priorities for the position; Modster, ascending to a greater role after Josh Rosen’s departure; and touted freshman Dorian Thompson-Robinson, joining the competition. It should be fascinating to watch it all play out. The guess here: Kelly favors Carta-Samuels’ maturity and wants Thompson-Robinson to redshirt.

There’s a quarterback battle brewing in UCLA between UW transfer K.J. Carta-Samuels and Devon Modster. Both are solid options, but the uncertainty leaves questions unanswered as well.

Either way, Chip Kelly’s answer to who will replace Josh Rosen is a big first decision for the new head coach.

Here’s the full list of Pac-12 quarterback comfort ratings from Wilner:

  1. Arizona
  2. Oregon
  3. Arizona State
  4. Washington
  5. Stanford
  6. Cal
  7. Utah
  8. UCLA
  9. Colorado
  10. USC
  11. Oregon State
  12. Washington State
