The College Football Playoff is still nearly a month away, but that doesn’t mean experts can’t start prognosticating on who will take home the national championship.
Over at SBNation, a team of 10 experts picked their winners in the two semifinal games and the national title game. Six people — Alex Kirshner, Dan Rubenstein, Jessica Smetana, Ryan Nanni, Matt Brown and Morgan Moriarty — chose the Sooners to beat Georgia in the Rose Bowl. Four experts, along with Bill Connelly’s S&P statistical rankings and Vegas oddsmakers as a whole, predicted the Bulldogs to win.
In the national title game, the panel was split. Dan Rubenstein and Matt Brown were the only two experts to pick Oklahoma to win it all. Four members picked Alabama, another four picked Clemson, and two picked Georgia.
The Sooners are vying for the eighth national title in school history, and the first since 2000. Oklahoma kicks off against Georgia in the Rose Bowl on January 1 at 4 p.m. on ESPN.
