Twitter reacts as Kentucky vs. Monmouth is invaded by long interview with Yankees manager

If you’re a Kentucky fan who was planning on laying back and enjoying your No. 8 Wildcats play against Monmouth on Saturday, you were probably caught off guard by all the talk about Yankees baseball.

During the game, the ESPNU commentators didn’t just take a break, they took a hiatus, from the action to interview new Yankees manager Aaron Boone as rumors are swirling about the Bronx Bombers acquiring star slugger Giancarlo Stanton.

The segment also included a very brief talk with Yankees GM and Kentucky fan Brian Cashman, who steered clear of revealing any information when asked about the most exciting thing he’s looking forward to.

“Well I think Kentucky pummeling Monmouth,” Cashman said. “I’m a big Kentucky fan, grew up in Lexington and Coach Cal’s a fun guy to watch coach.”

Just to give you an idea of how long it was, the Yankees talk began at the 7:58 mark of the first half and lasted exactly five minutes of game time, ending at 2:58 as Boone actually led into the commercial break with a call on a Kentucky 3-pointer.

Lots of fans on Twitter had a strong reaction.
