Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph knows what is on the line as the Cowboys enter the heart of Big 12 play, and he’s ready to use all of his targets in leading his team to victory.
According to the Oklahoman’s Scott Wright, Rudolph said there is “trust across the board” between him the Oklahoma State receiving corps — namely James Washington, Marcell Ateman and Jalen McCleskey. The trio has been present for the past two years of Rudolph’s tenure – though Ateman missed the 2016 season with an injury.
“In crunch time, the game’s on the line, there’s a few guys who you want to put the ball in their hands in those situations, because of the plays they’ve made in the past, and the confidence and the trust,” Rudolph said, according to Wright.
The numbers don’t lie — those three have easily been Rudolph’s favorite targets this season. The trio of receivers sit in the top three on the team when it comes to receiving yards — all with at least 300 on the season already. Washington has gone above and beyond 647 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Ateman and McCleskey have found the end zone 3 and 4 times this season, respectively

The three have combined for 1,402 receiving yards — a majority of Rudolph’s 1,909 passing yards through five games.
Oklahoma State has already faced two now-ranked opponents through two games of Big 12 play — losing to TCU in Week 4 before narrowly defeating Texas Tech in Week 5. The No. 24 Red Raiders, however, were unranked at the time of the game.
The Cowboys get back to action against 0-5 Baylor at home on Saturday after a bye last week, but Oklahoma State has never defeated Baylor in three tries with Rudolph at the helm on offense. After that, the Cowboys will have all sights set on a Nov. 4 meeting with No. 12 Oklahoma — a game that will likely serve as an elimination game in the race for a Big 12 title.
