Top Louisville signee Jairus Brents reportedly has been arrested

Louisville signee Jairus Brents was arrested Wednesday, according to Jake Lourim of Courier-Journal.

The 18-year-old Brents was arrested on an outstanding warrant stemming from a January shoplifting citation, according to the report.

After stopping Brents, who driving 86 mph in a 55 mph zone, police cited him for reckless driving and driving without a license. He was then arrested on a warrant after failing to appear in court from an incident where he allegedly took five shirts and four boxer briefs from a JCPenny store.

He is no longer in jail.

This isn’t Brent’s first run-in with police, after he was cited for driving 43 mph in a 25 mph school zone while driving without a license in October, per the report.

A Louisville product (Waggener Tradition), Brents is the No. 24 ranked cornerback in the country and the No. 2 ranked player in the state of Kentucky.

The 5-foot-10, 178-pound defender is a 4-star recruit. He signed with Louisville back on February 6. He had offers from some of the top programs in the country, and eventually settled on the Cardinals.
