Tim Tebow hits impressive home run off storage shed at Mets spring training

Nobody can deny that Tim Tebow is an incredible athlete, even if last year was his first baseball season since high school.

The former Florida quarterback is entering his second season in professional baseball and is currently at major-league spring training with the New York Mets in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

At camp on Thursday, Tebow showed off the power that gives reason to believe he can excel at baseball, if he can continue to refine his hitting mechanics. According to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, Tebow hit a home run off a storage shed in right-center field at the Mets’ complex during batting practice.

Here’s a picture, courtesy of DiComo, that shows just how far Tebow’s home run apparently traveled:

This picture appears to have been taken after Tebow was done hitting — as the batter in the cage is a right-handed hitter, while Tebow bats left-handed — but it still is impressive to see how far this home run reportedly traveled.

Tebow’s MLB aspirations may be more realistic than many thought possible when he announced he was going to try to play professional baseball. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson recently stated that he fully expects Tebow to eventually play in the majors.

And even if Tebow has been busy trying to further his professional baseball career, along with fulfilling his SEC Network obligations, that hasn’t stopped him from doing amazing things in the community.
