Three TCU College GameDay signs ranked among best of 2017 season by USA TODAY

There were plenty of memorable moments for TCU football in 2017 — both on and off the playing field.

None may have meant more to Horned Frogs fans and players alike than ESPN’s decision to bring College GameDay back to TCU’s campus in October for the first time since 2009.

The pregame show ahead of the TCU-West Virginia game provided for a weekend-long celebration of football as the Horned Frogs and the city of Fort Worth were both put in the national spotlight.

TCU fans made sure they were seen — packing the campus commons while displaying countless witty signs for a national audience to see (and get a laugh out of).

And the sign game in Fort Worth that morning may have been the strongest of any campus all season.

Three signs from the Oct. 7 show made an appearance of USA TODAY’s Top 20 College GameDay signs of 2017. All were ranked within the top 11 on the list.

Here are the three TCU signs that made the cut:

“Coal mining is obsolete” (No. 11)

“The entire West Virginia roster is on Farmers Only” (No. 8)

“The alphabet has more W’s than Baylor” (No. 3)

If your a Baylor fan, that last one still has to hurt — even two months after the fact. At least it didn’t hold true all season for the Bears.

The Horned Frogs went on to defeat West Virginia later that day, 31-24. Time will tell when ESPN brings its camp back to Fort Worth, but the special day won’t leave the memories of TCU fans anytime soon.

Now, start getting your sign ideas ready for next season.
