Matta is in the market for a new coaching gig less than one year after leaving Ohio State. He parted ways with the Buckeyes last June after 13 seasons.

Matta, 50, left Columbus as the winningest coach in program history. He led the Buckeyes to nine NCAA Tournament appearances and Final Fours in 2007 and 2012. Matta also won five regular season Big Ten titles and four conference tournaments with Ohio State.

Georgia is looking for a new coach after the school and Mark Fox  parted ways on Saturday after nine seasons. Georgia went 18-15 in the 2017-18 season and has made the NCAA Tournament only once in the last seven seasons.

Matta  also reportedly met with Ole Miss officials about their coaching vacancy before turning down the Georgia job.
