Texas releases contract details for AD Chris Del Conte, DC Todd Orlando, co-OC Herb Hand

The University of Texas System Board of Regents is set to approve contracts for new Longhorns athletics director Chris Del Conte, defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and co-offensive coordinator Herb Hand next week.

The board has released its agenda for its meeting from Feb. 26-27. The regents will sign off on Del Conte’s deal, which runs through 2024 and begins with a $1.31 million prorated salary in 2018 with raises each year. The school will also pay his $1 million buyout from TCU.

Here are the salary figures for Del Conte:

  • 2018: $1.31 million (prorated)
  • 2019: $1.34 million
  • 2020: $1.38 million
  • 2021: $1.42 million
  • 2022: $1.47 million
  • 2023: $1.52 million
  • 2024: $1.57 million

The board will also approve Orlando’s new $1.7 million salary and the new deal for Hand, who was hired from Auburn in January. Hand will have a $640,000 annual salary.

Both coaches’ contracts include cars and memberships at the University of Texas Golf Club.

The hire of Del Conte in December was praised throughout college athletics because of his work strengthening the TCU athletic program and getting the Horned Frogs to the Big 12.

Orlando helped turn the Longhorns into the No. 2 defense in the Big 12 in yardage allowed and the No. 21 unit nationally in defensive S&P+. At Auburn, Hand helped oversee an offense that ranked No. 34 nationally in offensive S&P+.
