Texas athletics director Chris Del Conte intends to replace the field turf at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium with grass, according to 247Sports’ Chip Brown.
Citing sources, Brown reported Thursday that Del Conte will add replacing the football stadium turf to his list of projects to start this summer. TCU, where Del Conte served as AD before coming to Texas in December, has a grass playing surface at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
While Del Conte also prefers grass for baseball, he reportedly does not intend to replace the playing surface for the Longhorns’ baseball team at this time.
Del Conte has said he wants to make major changes to the game day experience for Texas football fans.
