KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee had an interesting Tuesday with rumors swirling about the quarterback situation.
Rumors began to circulate that Tennessee had benched junior Quinten Dormady in favor of redshirt sophomore Jarrett Guarantano. There was thought Dormady had quit the team as a result.
Dormady practiced with the team Tuesday afternoon, though.
Coach Butch Jones spoke to the media Wednesday. This is his final media appearance before the South Carolina game Saturday.
Below, we’ve got a roundup of news and notes from his press conference.
- Opening statement: Safety Evan Berry and tight end Jakob Johnson will miss the game Saturday. South Carolina has a very, very good running back core. We are going to have to play complementary football in all three phases.
- On quarterbacks: Jarrett Guarantano will be the starter. Jarrett has worked very hard and he’ll have that opportunity on Saturday.
