Tennessee football injury report: OL Jashon Robertson, CB Justin Martin set to return

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee’s offensive line will get senior Jashon Robertson back from injury on Saturday, but junior offensive guard Jack Jones may not play football again.

Coach Butch Jones announced that Jones — who has not played since the Sept. 30 loss to Georgia — has neck and shoulder injuries that will prevent him from returning to the field.

Robertson, who was knocked out of the Alabama game with a lower body injury, will be back at practice and start for the Vols against Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in Lexington.

Jones said Monday that junior quarterback Quinten Dormady was getting his shoulder evaluated, but that he expects him at Tuesday’s practice.

Jones also said he will meet with suspended sophomore defensive end Darrell Taylor later today (Monday) to discuss his future with the program.

Jones indicated that Taylor has been meeting all requirements for a return to the team after being suspended the past two games following a fight at practice with true freshman Trey Smith.

Senior kick return man Evan Berry is expected to continue to practice with the team but remains day to day. Berry, who has not played since the opening game, has not been able to overcome nagging knee and hamstring issues.

The Vols will also get senior cornerback Justin Martin back from the injury that prevented him from playing cornerback against Alabama, Jones said.

Freshman Shawn Shamburger shined in place of Martin in Saturday’s game at Alabama, so there could be competition in the secondary. Senior cornerback Emmanuel Moseley hasn’t had an interception in the 20 games he has played since his sophomore year.

The Vols have just three interceptions this season: Linebacker Daniel Bituli, nickleback Rashaan Gaulden and Martin.
