TCU forward Lat Mayen to miss 2-3 months of practice after meniscus injury

TCU men’s basketball will be without a promising young player on the practice court for an extended period of time.

Head coach Jamie Dixon announced Thursday that redshirt freshman forward Lat Mayen suffered a meniscus injury during the first week of December and will miss two to three months of practice, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Carlos Mendez.

Mayen, a native of Adelaide, Australia, was recruited by the TCU as one of the top Australian players in the 2017 class. He was rated a 4-star prospect by AUSA Hoops.

Before TCU, Mayen’s career highlights included representing South Australia in the Australian U20 national team in 2016. He averaged 11.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game while shooting 44 percent from the field.

The Horned Frogs will return to action against Texas Southern on Monday, Dec. 18. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CT at the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth.
