On Tuesday, Dodger Stadium will host Game 1 of the World Series. The TCU baseball team will be there a few months behind.
The Horned Frogs released their schedule for the 2018 season Monday. Notably, it includes a March 11 matchup with Vanderbilt at Dodger Stadium. That game is the final of three games TCU will play as part of the Dodger Classic. The Horned Frogs will face USC on March 9 at Dedeaux Field and UCLA on March 10 at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
TCU went through the same trio in 2015, also as part of the Dodgers Classic. After losing to USC, 7-6, in 12 innings, the Horned Frogs beat UCLA, 3-1, ahead of a 4-2 victory against Vanderbilt at Dodger Stadium. They faced the Commodores more recently, though.
The teams last faced in the 2015 College World Series, with Vanderbilt beating TCU twice to eliminate the Horned Frogs from the College World Series.
The conference portion of TCU’s 2018 schedule also features trips to Oklahoma State, Kansas, Baylor and Texas. The Horned Frogs face Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and West Virginia at Lupton Stadium.
In all, TCU is scheduled to play 26 games against 10 teams from last year’s NCAA Tournament field. The Horned Frogs, who have made four straight College World Series, begin the season on the road for the first time since 2013, the last year they didn’t make it to Omaha, Neb. The TCU baseball season begins against Grand Canyon on Feb. 16 in Phoenix.
