Syracuse center does push ups on sideline after misplacing helmet

Syracuse-Dino Babers

Every football player has one thing to remember before stepping onto the field – their helmet. Whether your a quarterback, offensive lineman, safety or punt returner, the helmet is essential to playing the game.

And yet, players routinely forget their helmets in the locker room or even lose them on the sidelines. That’s exactly what happened to Syracuse center Keaton Darney on Saturday against Miami.

But it’s probably safe to say he won’t ever forget it again. That’s because Orange coach Dino Babers made him pay for his mistake by doing push ups.

And no, Babers wasn’t planning on forcing him do those push ups in the team’s next practice. Darney did them right on the sidelines during a commercial break.

Syracuse is looking for its second straight big upset this week, but they trail Miami 10-0 in the second quarter.
