Stephen A. Smith on Donovan Mitchell winning NBA Rookie of the Year: ‘I don’t think there’s any question about it’

Add Stephen A. Smith to the growing list of believers in Donovan Mitchell.

The ESPN personality hitched his wagon to the former Louisville standout as his choice for NBA Rookie of the Year.

Stephen A. isn’t one to mince words, so his vote of confidence isn’t something to take lightly.

It’s looking like a two-man race for the prize between the Utah Jazz’s Mitchell (19.5 ppg, 1.48 steals) and the Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons (18.5 ppg, 7.7 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.85 steals).

Riding a 10-game winning streak, Mitchell’s Jazz are the hottest team in the league right now. Meanwhile, Simmons’ 76ers have climbed into seventh place in the Eastern Conference with a four-game winning streak.

Mitchell won Western Conference Rookie of the Month honors in December and January.

At NBA All-Star Weekend (Feb. 16-18), Mitchell will compete in the Slam Dunk Contest and the Rising Stars Game.

Mitchell was the No. 13 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Mitchell was first-team All-ACC last season at Louisville.
