NC State football: Nyheim Hines has dominant first quarter against Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh has had a nightmarish first quarter trying to contain NC State running back Nyheim Hines.

With the Panthers up 7-0 with just under five minutes left in the first quarter, Hines took a backfield handoff and scampered 83 yards for the touchdown to knot it up at 7.

If that wasn’t enough, there was more after Pitt was forced to punt moments later. With just over a minute left in the frame, Hines was at it again, taking a punt 92 yards to the end zone for his second score of the afternoon.

All told, the junior ended the quarter with exactly 200 yards of all-purpose yards and a pair of touchdowns to pace the Wolfpack in the opening 15 minutes. That’s not a bad start on the day.

Hines likely won’t sustain this quick start during the game, but early on, it’s turned out to be a special performance thus far. What else does he have up his sleeve? We’ll have to keep watching to find out.
