When the early signing period rolls around on December 20, the West Virginia Mountaineers can look forward to the official commitment of Kwantel Raines.

Raines, a 4-star safety from Aliquippa, Penn., tweeted out his intention to sign with the Mountaineers on Monday night.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Raines is the seventh-highest rated player in Pennsylvania in the Class of 2018. He took his official visit to Morgantown, W. Va., on December 8. At 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Raines is a big, physical talent at defensive back.

Once he officially commits, Raines will be the second-highest rated player in the Mountaineers’ Class of 2018. In addition to West Virginia, he also had offers from Ole Miss, Florida, TCU and Pitt, among many others.
