4-star OT John Olmstead names 7 Big Ten schools in top 10

Although we are currently in the midst of college basketball’s March Madness, the madness of college football recruiting never stops.

On Friday, John Olmstead — one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the recruiting class of 2019 — announced that he has narrowed his college choice down to 10 schools, seven of which are in the Big Ten Conference.

The Big Ten programs that Olmstead is considering are Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers and Wisconsin. The three other programs on Olmstead’s list are Notre Dame, Ole Miss and LSU.

Olmstead announced his top-10 schools in a video on Twitter. Check out the video below:

Olmstead wrote:

“I am truly thankful to every school that has offered me a chance to continue my academic and athletic careers. It has been an honor to meet all of the coaches who recruited me. After many conversations with my family and much prayer, I will be considering these ten schools.”

According to 247Sports, the 6-foot-6, 300-pound Olmstead is a 4-star prospect. The offensive lineman out of St. Joseph High School in Metuchen, N.J. is ranked as the No. 4 prospect from the state in his recruiting class.

Among other offensive tackles in his class, 247Sports ranks Olmstead No. 19. Overall, he is ranked the No. 172 player in his class.
