It would be an understatement to say Oklahoma State has become a bowl season mainstay under Mike Gundy.
The Cowboys are soon headed to their 12th consecutive bowl appearance with a meeting lined up with Virginia Tech in the Camping World Bowl on Dec. 28.
The Pokes, fresh off of their second 9-3 regular season effort, will head to Orlando in hopes of their third straight 10-win season and fourth in the last five years. The good news for Oklahoma State is that it’s heavily favored, as seen by Sports Illustrated, with all seven of its college football experts projecting the Pokes to come out on top against the Hokies.
Much like Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, too, is in pursuit of a 10-win season after earning nine regular season wins.
If the Cowboys are to come out on top, it will almost surely be thanks to an explosive offense that ranks No. 2 in the nation in yards per game (575.7) and No. 3 in points per game (46.3). Such success has come courtesy of an elite quarterback-receiver duo in Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner Mason Rudolph and Biletnikoff Award winner James Washington?
With such a high-powered unit on the other sideline, will Virginia Tech be able to steal a win?
As seen with Sports Illustrated’s picks, the odds aren’t in the Hokies favor.
Kickoff in the Camping World Bowl is set for 5:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, Dec. 28. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
