South Carolina has already endured several injuries on offense, and another key player went down early in the first quarter against Tennessee on Saturday.

The Gamecocks’ leading rusher from last year, sophomore Rico Dowdle, has gone with an apparent left ankle injury that occurred only about six minutes into the game.

South Carolina was facing a first-and-10 at the Tennessee 39-yard line when Dowdle was stopped by Quart’e Sapp for no gain. Dowdle laid on the ground for some time after the play and was seen in visible pain on the sidelines.

Last season, Dowdle was magnificent as a freshman, leading South Carolina with 764 rushing yards and 6 TDs.

We’ll update you on his injury once more information becomes known.
