Clemson rode its defense to a victory over Wake Forest last Saturday, withstanding an injury to star quarterback Kelly Bryant to move to 6-0 on the season.
After jumping out to a quick 14-0 first-quarter lead, Dabo Swinney’s squad looked sluggish on offense before its first-year starting quarterback was knocked out with a left ankle injury, one that forced the Tigers to utilize backups Zerrick Cooper and Hunter Johnson. With the Tigers now on a short week, Bryant will look to get healthy before a Friday night road test against Syracuse.
While Swinney expects his signal caller to be able to suit up against the Orange, the nature of the injury will go a long way in determining if the Tigers can remain a College Football Playoff contender and defend their title from last season.
In this week’s episode of Sound Off, presented by Zaxby’s, ACC DieHards writers Dave Miller and Joe McCaffrey discuss the biggest storylines surrounding the Tigers as they prepare to face a Syracuse team that just broke its two-game losing streak.
