Smith is a big pickup for Frost and his staff in Lincoln. Rated as the No. 309 prospect in the 2018 class, Smith also was considering Oklahoma, Florida and others. A West Palm Beach, Fla. native, Smith built a relationship with Frost while he was at Central Florida.

Smith got a home visit from new Nebraska linebackers coach Jovan Dewitt earlier in the week.

Smith’s commitment comes on the heels of bad recruiting news for the Huskers. Joshua Moore, a 4-star wide receiver, announced his decommitment from the program just about an hour before Smith’s commitment.
