Tyrone Tracy: Commitment
Iowa is about to get an explosive, versatile playmaker capable of making big plays as a running or a receiver. Tracy primarily played running back this year and rushed for 1,412 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. Tracy also caught 54 passes for 1,132 yards and 16 touchdowns. Tracy is a three-time all-state selection and totaled 6,924 yards of offense and 72 touchdowns in his four seasons of varsity football in Indianapolis.
Tracy was the fourth player to commit to Iowa last April and the first of three Indianapolis commits planning to sign with the Hawkeyes this week. He committed to the Hawkeyes in style while taking off his shirt in a personalized video and revealing the TigerHawk logo as Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” played in the background.
Tracy’s finalists included Northwestern and Louisville. Several other suitors came after Tracy, including Illinois, Western Michigan, Maryland and Penn State, but he opted for the Hawkeyes early and never wavered.
Among incoming wide receivers, Tracy is considered No. 31 by 24/7 Sports. There are opportunities for playing time right away in the Hawkeyes’ receiving corps with Iowa senior Matt VandeBerg graduating. Iowa returns two primary starters in Nick Easley and Ihmir Smith-Marsette, but the Hawkeyes are looking for depth and potential playmakers.
