Signee 101: Get to know 3-star Notre Dame TE Tommy Tremble

The latest of the 20 players who have committed to Notre Dame’s No. 6-ranked 2018 recruiting class was 3-star tight end Tommy Tremble. Tremble will look to join the lengthy list of prodigious Fighting Irish tight ends.

Tremble is now officially committed and signed his letter of intent on Wednesday.

Tremble took his time with his decision, verbally committing to Notre Dame last Friday, less than a week before the early signing period, which begins Wednesday. Even though Tremble is just rated as a 3-star prospect, his impressive list of suitors shows that teams believe he has potential. Tremble chose the Irish over Michigan, UCLA and Georgia.

Here is everything you need to know about Tremble.

How Tommy Tremble fits at Notre Dame

Notre Dame has developed a well-earned reputation for churning out top-notch tight ends, from Kyle Rudolph to Tyler Eifert. With two of the Irish’s top three tight ends on this year’s depth chart, Durham Smythe and Nic Weishner, set to graduate, there could be an opening for Tremble to see the field quickly.

Tremble is fast for a tight end — Tim Prister of 247sports described him as more of a “big wide receiver.” While he may need to improve a bit on his blocking at the line of scrimmage, Tremble’s speed and athleticism could make him a matchup nightmare for linebackers and safeties and a big play threat for a Notre Dame passing attack that was missing such a threat this season.
