Originally a prized possession of the Florida State 2018 recruiting class, 4-star cornerback Houston Griffith de-commited from the Seminoles in late November and committed to Notre Dame last week. The late addition to the early signing period for the Irish could turn out to be the best of their entire class.
Griffith is now officially committed and signed his letter of intent on Wednesday.

How Houston Griffith fits at Notre Dame
As one of the top cornerback recruits in the 2018 class, Griffith would be able to fit just about anywhere. Notre Dame finished 49th in pass defense during the regular season, so it wasn’t a major weakness, but it could surely be improved.
The Irish pass defense also didn’t hold up in November. Even though Notre Dame beat Wake Forest, the Irish allowed 348 passing yards to the Demon Deacons. Then in the season finale, the Fighting Irish yielded 8.0 yards per pass and four passing touchdowns against Stanford.
Adding Griffith, though, could give Notre Dame a legitimate shutdown cornerback.
