In what could prove to be the best recruiting class ever at Notre
Dame, the Fighting Irish are adding several key pieces to their defense this week. But they are also signing a few offensive
players that could be important contributors in years to come.
The Fighting Irish didn’t utilize their wide receivers very much this season, but Brandon Wimbush isn’t going
to stay the quarterback at Notre Dame forever. Nothing against Wimbush, but under him, the Irish are predominantly a running
team, so the wideouts don’t receive much of a chance to showcase their talents.
But if Jones can make an impact in his first year, the Irish will have a trio of talented receivers. Both junior Equanimeous
St. Brown and sophomore Chase Claypool recorded 400 receiving yards on at least 29 catches. Jones would give Wimbush and the
offense a third option in the passing game.
And like those two receivers, Jones has a big frame that should be able to use his size and catch radius to provide Notre
Dame matchup advantages.
