Oklahoma’s standing as a running back factory gained more validation when IMG Academy running back T.J. Pledger
grabbed his offer from the Sooners. The 4-star talent is one of the top all-purpose running backs in the country.
Pledger committed to the Sooners in the spring, and landing him has seemingly opened a door for the program at one of the
top prep schools in the country as well as in Pledger’s home state, California.
Here’s all you need to know about the running back.
Offers: 23, including UCLA, Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Penn State, Ohio State and Tennessee
Commitment: March 25, 2017
Early enrollee: Yes.
2017 statistics: In six games, Pledger rushed for 290 yards on 41 carries, scoring 3 touchdowns. He also
had 7 receptions for 48 yards while playing for one of the top teams in the country.
Where Pledger fits at Oklahoma: The Sooners backfield always seems crowded. Where Pledger has a chance
to make an immediate impact is as a third-down receiver. He’s a small target, but he showed great hands throughout prep career.
Pledger’s skills as a running back are comparable to current Oklahoma standout Rodney Anderson. Any holes in Pledger’s game
are small. He’s quick, with good top-end speed and also can get tough yards. Pledger will enroll at Oklahoma in January and
go through spring practice.
