Jeff Jenkins, a 3-star offensive lineman, didn’t need long to come around on Iowa. The Hawkeyes offered Jenkins last Jan. 13. Nine days later he committed. He signed with Iowa during the early signing period on Wednesday.

In short, Jenkins is everything Iowa looks for in an offensive lineman. He is physical, athletic, moves well and is capable of pulling. Each of those is a trait the Hawkeyes covet in their zone-based rushing attack, and it’s all on display in a 20-minute highlight tape from his junior year.
“It’s probably the longest offensive lineman highlight tape most coaches have ever seen,” Prairie Ridge High School (Ill.) coach Chris Schremp told Land of 10 in January. “Some came in and said the highlight film is unbelievable. He makes so many plays it’s awesome.”
Jenkins was vital in Iowa landing his high school teammate Samson Evans as well. The two are best friends, and Jenkins brought up the benefits of playing at Iowa to Evans, a high-school quarterback likely to start his college career at running back.
Jenkins, a two-way lineman in high school, helped lead Prairie Ridge to consecutive undefeated state titles the last two seasons. Those campaigns served as an apprenticeship for his upcoming college career.
“You watch the kid dominate in so many areas,” Schremp told Land of 10 in November. “That is really how he raised the guys around him. Those guys are trying to keep up with his level of play and we definitely saw that.”
Jenkins could play anywhere on the offense line, but his future at Iowa is likely at guard or center.
