Second FSU assistant bolts for Jimbo Fisher’s Texas A&M staff in less than a week

Jimbo Fisher-Florida State-buyout

While Willie Taggart is still trying to assemble his staff at Florida State, Jimbo Fisher is continuing to add former Seminoles to his.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday morning, FSU tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator Tim Brewster announced he’s accepted a position at Texas A&M.

Brewster was an assistant at FSU since 2013. Brewster served as the head coach at Minnesota from 2007-10 and compiled a 15-30 record.

Former FSU running backs coach Jay Graham also made the decision to join Fisher in College Station on Dec. 8.

Taggart has yet to hire any assistants to Florida State’s staff.

Per reporter Ira Schoffel:

Taggart is expected to bring some assistants from Oregon once the Ducks have finished playing in the Las Vegas Bowl this Saturday. At that point, his FSU staff is expected to come into focus.

High on the radar for both Florida State and Oregon is Ducks defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt. While Taggart is expected to make a push for the former USF head coach, Oregon officials have said they will try to keep him with new head coach Mario Cristobal.

Fisher resigned as FSU’s coach after eight seasons on Dec. 1, the day before the team’s regular-season finale vs. Louisiana-Monroe.

Fisher accepted a 10-year, $75 million contract to replace Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M. Taggart’s deal at Florida State is 6 years/$30 million.
