San Diego State head coach Rocky Long is apparently not a fan of Jimbo Fisher’s new $75 million contract with Texas A&M. Long, in an appearance on the Mark and Rich Show, shared controversial thoughts about the state of coaching salaries:
SDSU’s Rocky Long on Jimbo Fisher’s $75M contract: “He doesn't make 1 tackle, doesn't catch 1 pass, he doesn't score 1 TD. We’re not only in this to have a salary, we're in this to develop young men so (coaching salaries are) embarrassing at times” via Mark & Rich Show XTRA 1360

Fisher left Florida State a few weeks ago in part because he received a monster offer from Texas A&M, which will make him one of the highest-paid coaches in college football.
You can see where Long is coming from – obviously, his comments are meant to defend players who play the biggest role in generating revenue without receiving any of it. But it’s also fair to point out that Long benefits from the same system that Fisher does.
At any rate, the Fisher contract may have ruffled some feathers in coaching circles. It will be fascinating to see if any more of them speak out.
